MELBOURNE-based global property technology group Equiem has wooed AMP Capital’s former head of office investment management, Jon Lesquereux, to lead its Asia Pacific business.

Lesquereux has been appointed regional head for APAC and will be responsible for Equiem’s 200-person APAC team. He will also lead Equiem’s expansion into Singapore this year, with the first deals in this new market expected to be announced in the coming few months.

With over 25 years’ experience in Sydney, London and Auckland, he has worked at AMP Capital, Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Kiwi Income Property Trust and Knight Frank.

CEO of Equiem, Gabrielle McMillan, said the appointment is one of a number of recent changes within the firm’s management structure and APAC business.

Deborah Greenwood-Smith has been appointed chief operating officer, having previously worked as the firm’s chief people officer and head of shared services. In her new role, she responsible for Equiem’s global business, including its offices in London and New York.

Meanwhile, Laura Acklandiene has returned to Equiem’s Melbourne office to take up the role of general manager for APAC business development and strategic partnerships, transitioning from her former role as head of global business development.

The latest management changes is off the back of a stellar half-year in the region, which saw the firm’s APAC team achieve record sales for the half year to December 2018, comprising 47% of new sales for the entire global business.

New deals were signed with the likes of Pembroke at Melbourne’s T&G Building, with ARA at the company’s Southgate Towers complex in Melbourne, and with Swiss investment fund AFIAA across four assets in Melbourne and Sydney.

“We enjoyed another highly successful half year to December 2018 for us in the Australian market, and have continued that momentum in early 2019. Not only have we achieved record sales but we continue to ensure our highly valued clients are able to deliver the services, amenities and experiences that modern occupiers now expect.

“It is with this strong foundation in place that we are pleased to announce these latest internal changes and welcome Jon Lesquereux to Equiem. Jon has exceptional experience within the APAC property industry and his expertise will ensure that we continue to deliver and improve upon the high level of service and support that our clients have come to expect from us.” McMillan said.
