Commission approves LEPC9 Willoughby project

CHANNEL Nine’s Willoughby headquarters are set to make way for a nine-building project with 460 apartments after the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission approved LEPC9’s ambitious plans for the north shore site.

Plans for the 2.9-hectare site at 6-30 Artarman Road were first lodged by Nine in 2010. They have since been modified by the joint venture between Lotus Group and Hong Kong-based Euro Properties, which acquired the site from Nine for $147.5 million in 2015.

Designed by architects Chrofi, the masterplan includes two buildings 11 and 12 storeys and seven buildings ranging from four to nine storeys, as well as a series of public squares and openly accessible green space.

Euro Properties executive director, Jeff Chan said a development application for Parkside Willoughby will now be lodged for the stage two detailed design with a view to commencing construction in 2021.

Plans for the site were scaled down from 495 apartments to 460, and were amended to include around 1,770 sqm of affordable housing and more public space.

Channel Nine will vacate the site in 2020 when it moves to Winten Property Group’s new 39-storey tower at 1 Denison Street in North Sydney.
