ESR Australia will expedite its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) program after appointing Simon Carter as the new acting head.
Carter brings over 20-years of experience as a leader in sustainability and corporate responsibility in the property sector, after starting as an architect specialising in green
buildings leading into the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
“When I first started in the sector, sustainability in commercial property was in its infancy. It has been an exciting experience to see it develop from a fringe element of real estate practice to the levels of expertise, ambition and performance the sector has today.
“ESR Australia’s recent expansion, its development pipeline and the strong commitment to ESG of ESR Group allows increased ambition and gives us a more comprehensive platform to implement. I am particularly excited about the solar strategy the business is creating and what that can offer ESR’s customers and investors,” said Carter.
CEO Phil Pearce said by fostering a robust ESG program, ESR will offer investors a platform with increased orientation to the future and the risks and opportunities it presents. At the same time, customers will be provided with properties that align with their own sustainability objectives.
“Simon’s credentials are amongst the best in the market, having supported numerous companies progress their sustainability strategy and make considerable advancements to their ESG programs and performance.” Pearce said.
