SIGNIFICANT funds have been raised for Victoria's Portsea Camp which provides amazing holidays for underprivileged children. Since 1945 Portsea Camp Portsea Camps have been providing holidays for children from around Victoria and New South Wales. Once again, one of the key supporters of Portsea camp was the Beck family. Legendary property developer Max Beck and his family have supported the raising of funds for the camp for more than a decade. Beck's philosophy is to look back at your own childhood, your life experiences, and put back into the community if you can.

Mr Beck said Portsea Camp is also supported greatly by "his mates and fellow Sorrento Bay Riders" with two rides of 50km and 100km. Entry fees to ride in the rides along Victoria's Mornington Peninsula is donated directly to Portsea Camp. Mr Beck said each of the rides have the same attitude as him: "To help the community and those who need a helping hand. "I cannot emphasise the importance of putting back into our communities in whatever capacity you can," Mr Beck concluded.
Portsea Camp chief executive Ms Sandra Martin said the importance of the back of the Beck family, Bay Riders and others ensures Portsea Camp can continue its programs. "The camp is an icon to our shared commitment to our children," Ms Martin said. "Over its 70 plus years many thousands of Victorians have enjoyed a Portsea Camp experience, with many returning as volunteers or to just re-live memories, standing at the flagpole casting an eye over the place that means so much." The 2023 Bay Ride for Portsea Camp will be held on Sunday 1 October.
