BROOKFIELD Multiplex has raised more than $80,000 at the Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer charity cycling event held over the weekend.
Proceeds from the race will go towards cancer treatment and research at the $142 million Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, Sydney. The integrated facility is being built by Brookfield Multiplex and is scheduled for completion mid next year.
Brookfield Multiplex and its parent company Brookfield Asset Management entered a group of 30 cyclists, including 2012 NAWIC NSW award winner Erin Wood whose childhood experience with Leukaemia inspired her to join the race.
The two day event encompassed a 200 kilometre ride from Sydney to the picturesque Macarthur region and camping in scenic NSW countryside.
Broofkield Multiplex and Brookfield coordinated a number of corporate donations as well as sponsorships from suppliers and subcontractors including Dial-a-Dump, Interspan, Brightons Australia, Oriel and Star Electrical.
Brookfield is also providing Lifehouse with free-of-charge office accommodation facilities while their new premises are being built.
The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse will provide over 43,500 sqm of clinical care, research and education space and will be integrated into the existing Radiation Oncology Centre at RPA.
