HONG Kong’s listed Link Real Estate Investment Trust has secured a major recruitment coup to start the new year with the appointment of Charter Hall Retail REIT CEO Greg Chubb as chief operating officer – international.

Chubb will join Link in April lead and oversee the group’s operations in Australia, the United Kingdom and Asia locations, excluding Mainland China and Hong Kong, reporting to Link CEO George Hongchoy.

“We are delighted to welcome Greg to the Link family. He has over 30 years of extensive experience across retail, commercial real estate funds and REIT operations. His expertise in shaping commercial portfolio, particularly in delivering an optimal business mix with strong customer appeal through active asset management, will be invaluable to us as we continue to advance our role as a world class real estate manager and investor.” Hongchoy said.

“I am honoured to be joining Link, one of the world’s most successful REITs. As Link seeks to continue to build its portfolio, and to reinforce its leading position in the REIT industry, I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues on the opportunities and challenges ahead.” Chubb said.

Chubb holds a Bachelor of Business in Land Economy from Western Sydney University. He is the Joint Deputy Chairman of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia and a Fellow of Australian Property Institute.

Meanwhile Charter Hall Retail REIT has promoted Ben Ellis as the new CEO. Ellis has worked in various roles with Charter Hall over the past 21 years, most recently as head of transactions overseeing $25 billion in deals over the past three years.

Charter Hall managing director David Harrison said the group was pleased to promote internally and Ellis’ strong wholesale partner relationships will provide a seamless transition.

“We wish Greg well on his next career journey and thank him for his contribution.” Harrison said.
